The French hair stylists had it right on! Cutting & shaping short hair cuts. For their French ladies back in the 1960s! These cuts are uniquely sexy and they are show-cased with fun & trendy hair styles! These mod like and sophisticated styles were inspired by a precocious and youthful movement in the 1960s. The french hair designers then were promoting hair cutting with a straight-edge razor. The motivating factor in cutting with a razor was that the ends of the cut hairs were fluid and that presented a more feminine appeal for the shorter styles. My first experience using a razor came in 1979 working for Jean Louis David International at Henri Bendels 10 West 57th Street. Jean Louis trained us with his inspired styles from Paris on his 3 – 4 visits annually to NYC. Today the technology using the razor has progressed at utilizing parts & surfaces of the razor.
